Daniel James Somers, 59, of Rocky Face, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at his home.
Mr. Somers was born May 3, 1958, in Warwick, R.I. He was raised in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and graduated from Stranahan High School. He lived several years in Martin County, Fla. He was a member of the Chemical Workers Union and the Pipefitters Union. His most recently profession was an automotive salesperson. He was nominated for the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission by Florida Public Utilities Company. He enjoyed remodeling homes, gardening and was an avid knife and gun collector. He also enjoyed cooking for his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was a generous and trustworthy person. He was a great man who worked hard for what he had.
He is survived by his wife, Bethleen M. Somers, who said he was the best husband and friend anyone could have asked for. "Our many years together will never be long enough. I will always be grateful he was a part of my life. He will always be the one and only love of my life. Nobody will ever fill his shoes."
Other survivors include brothers, Michael Somers, James P. Somers and John J. Somers; sister, Jeannie Somers Ward; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Dennis and Glenda Somers; nieces and nephews, Brian Ward, Nora Somers, Chris Dennis, Kelsey Landon, Danielle Desimone, Tiffany Dennis, Trevor Quinn, Ira Dennis, Kelly Dennis, Cassandra Dennis, Ziggy Dennis and Mallory Smith.
Per Mr. Somers' request, there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Red Cross. You may leave the family a message on the tribute wall, upload pictures or light a memorial candle at www.julianpeeples.com.
