Claudette Craig Roden, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga after a brief illness. She was born on September 25, 1936 in Dalton, GA to the late John William Craig and Cleo Cobb Craig.
Claudettes faith was a very important part of her life and she began using her musical talents at the age of 12 in the South Dalton Baptist Church in Dalton, GA. She sang and also served as pianist and organist until 1997 for a total of 49 years. After marrying Jim, she joined the Silverdale Baptist Church in Chattanooga.
She was a 1955 graduate of Dalton High School where she was active in the chorus and the Catamount Marching Band. After graduating, she worked in the banking industry, primarily at Wachovia Bank and later at Dalton Whitfield Bank until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Jim Roden (Ringgold, GA); daughter Sherry Ledford Brindle and husband Billy (Calhoun, GA); grandchildren Blake (Ann) Brindle and Meagan (Bart) Walraven and great grandchildren Molly and Emma Walraven and Belle and Blair Brindle (all of Calhoun, GA); brothers Jay (Kathy) Craig of Ringgold, GA and Harlan (Betty) Craig of Marietta, GA; step children Angela (Emmett) Camp of Ooltewah, TN, Alan (Laura) Roden of Waterford, VA, Lisa (Jeff) Ellis of East Ridge, TN; step grandchildren Rachel and Jonathan Camp and Elizabeth and Caroline Roden; brothers and sisters in law Wendell (Lori) Roden, Madelyn Daniel, Sheila (Jimmy) Sampley, Kenneth (Tracie) Roden; along with several nieces and nephews.
At Claudettes request, there was a private graveside service officiated by Pastor Tony Walliser and interment at Whitfield Memorial Gardens, Dalton, GA.
Friends and family may visit with Jim on Saturday, November 11 between 10:00 a.m. 12:00 noon in the Legacy Room on the campus of Silverdale Baptist Church.
