Claude M. Holcomb, our beloved daddy and granddaddy, 87, of Rocky Face, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 3, 2017, at his home. Claude was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Murray County.
He was a faithful member of Dogwood Valley Baptist Church. He was a local business owner of Tunnel Hill Hardware in Tunnel Hill for over 50 years. In 1951, Claude married his sweetheart Geneva; they were happily married for 63 years.
Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Geneva Holcomb; parents, Oscar and Lola Holcomb; daughter, Marlena Holcomb; sister, Eloise Lanier; and brothers, Kenneth Holcomb and Thomas Holcomb.
He is survived by children, Carolyn and Richard Carnes, Diane and Bill O'Donald, Sandy and Donny Cagle, Connie Holcomb, Jerry and Pam Holcomb; sister, Cora Mae Bailey; brothers, Raymond Holcomb and Frank Holcomb; grandchildren, Jennifer Cagle, Jessi Cagle, Jodi Cagle, Crystal and Bill Nicholson, Cagney and Philip Arnold, Samantha and Bruce King, Nick Baker, Shelly and Derek Godfrey and John Holcomb; great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Claude Holcomb will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from Dogwood Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Roy Gentry, Brother Jerry Atkins and Brother Justin Gazaway officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today Monday.
In lieu of flowers, it is Claude's wish that donations be made to Dogwood Valley Baptist Bible Camp, c/o Ken Dorsey, 140 Evergreen Way, Ringgold, GA 30736.
