Mrs. Catherine Louise Smith Kirby, 84, of Dalton, departed this life on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Chatsworth Health Care Center.
Catherine was born June 3, 1932, in Whitfield County, a daughter of the late Jess and Annie Pierce Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Smith and Leonard Kirby; son, Terry Smith; brothers, Jessie Bell and Troy Bell; sister, Betty Bell.
She was a member of Mount Rachel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Randall Johnson of Chatsworth; daughter-in-law, Linda Bishop of Dalton; sister, Wilma Cross of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Karen Davis of Dalton; stepchildren, Roger Kirby of Chattanooga, Steve Kirby, Renee Garner of Dalton, Vicky Shallowford of Texas, Janey Kirby of Louisiana; grandchildren, Tracy Pope of Bradenton, Fla., Anthony and Valarie Smith, Thomas and Denise Barnes of Chatsworth, Hollie and Tracey Dailey of Chattanooga, Kellie and John Hart of Dalton, Bridget and TeRan VanMeter of Chatsworth; 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Catherine Louise Smith Kirby are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with the Rev. Marty Greene officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
