Amanda Pauline's Story
Amanda Pauline Polly Skates, age 99, of Dalton passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Ridgewood Manor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Skates; parents William H. Gross and Lillie Prince Gross; brother, Henry Gross; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Arthur Johnson.
She was a charter member of Salem Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James (Jimmy) and Janice Davis Skates of Dalton; two grandchildren, Mandy Skates (Kelly) Hayes of Dalton; Eric (Laura) Skates of Canton; four great-grandchildren, Everett Hayes of Dalton; Mauldin, Elle and Willa Skates of Canton; her beloved cat, Maggie.
Special thanks to friends at Salem Baptist Church, Mrs. Shelby Peeples (Willena) and Kimmy for their exceptional care during her illness.
The funeral service to honor the life of Amanda Pauline Polly Skates will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Darey Kittle and Rev. Walter Hare officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made at Salem Baptist Church.
